Warren County Report
Two March 14 arrests stemming from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into the late-night, May 11 IHOP robbery and assault indicate an inside job involving an RSW work release inmate and second employee. In a release issued at 11:44 a.m., Friday, May 15, the Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of RSW inmate Zachary Shawn Marquess hours after the initial arrest in the case.
The press release stated, “Marquess, a work release inmate housed at the RSW Regional Jail, was working at the IHOP Restaurant at the time of the robbery. Marquess is now being held without bond at the RSW Regional Jail. The codefendant in this case, Brandon Williams, AKA Brandon Jackson was also employed at the IHOP Restaurant. Williams was not working at the time of the robbery but returned to work at IHOP on May 13, 2015 and was taken into custody at approximately 10 p.m. on an unrelated capias from Warren County Circuit Court.
“Williams and Marquess were initially determined as persons of interest during the investigation. Both individuals were interviewed and subsequently confessed to their role in the robbery.
“An IHOP assistant manager was maliciously wounded with a baseball bat during the robbery and sustained a fracture to the facial area, lacerations, contusions, abrasions, and a concussion. The assistant manager was transported to Warren Memorial hospital for treatment and was later released.”
The press release announcing charges against Williams/Jackson was issued at 10:42 a.m., May 14. Marquess was arrested later that same day, though the second arrest wasn’t announced till the following day, after our May 15 edition reporting the IHOP robbery-assault and first arrest went to press.
Brandon Williams was listed as Brandon Jackson in that initial release, which reported, “On Thursday, May 14, 2015, Warren County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Brandon Scott Jackson in connection with the IHOP Restaurant robbery that occurred in the early-morning hours of May 11. Jackson, age 28, was taken into custody without incident. His last known address was listed at 1409 Belmont Avenue, Front Royal.”
Jackson was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and malicious wounding. He is being held without bond at the RSW Regional Jail.
