Date: 4/16/2019
Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Location: Busboys and Poets @ 4251 Campbell Ave, Arlington, VA 22206 (View Map)

Description: Produced by Allan Sidley. Why so serious?! If you are like us, you have found it hard to find things to laugh about. Working to change the world is grueling and daunting work, but the pursuit of happiness is what we are fighting for! So we are making time to LAUGH! Busboys and Poets is pleased to introduce COMEDY NIGHT in Shirlington. Come out on April 16th and get your ribs tickled, massage your funny bone, slap a knee or two. Because LAUGHTER is an act of resistance! Produced by Allan Sidley: A comedian, improviser and lyricist, Allan is a jack off all trades. Allan's humor is dry, and a little wet from perspiration, usually. He pokes fun at Jews, mostly his Mom & Grandma, and dissects cultural taboos like online dating while balding or being a great +1 for a funeral. Often serious with hints of silly, Allan manages to keep dark topics light-hearted and his audiences on their toes (so stretch your calves). His comedy has been described as, "great for first dates." He's opened (the door for) Sinbad, and toured throughout Eastern Europe in the summer of 2011 (not for comedy, just a fun fact). He did however recently feature at Cozzys Comedy Club, and was a member of the Unkosher Comedy Tour. In addition to running comedy shows at Busboys & Poets in Takoma, Shirlington, and 14th & V, he manages the Tysons Comedy Cellar and shows under his production company Sidley Standup. About the Comedians: Host - Ralph Cooper: Ralph started doing comedy back in 2005 because his mother told him he was funny, but got serious in 2010 because his wife said they needed rent. Ralph provides a candid and intelligent approach towards comedy. He gives an intimate look into his life experiences from growing up overseas to college life to raising kids. Ralph has a raw sharp sense of humor that appeals to a broad audience. Ralph has performed throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and Canada at venues such as DC Improv (DC), Eastville Comedy Club (NY), Betty s (Toronto). He has also been featured on television, radio and internet broadcasts, including Capitol Comedy Connection and National Public Radio. Tommy Taylor Jr: Being a clean comedian, Taylor does not curse or get raunchy with his material. However, he still captivates audiences from all walks of life. From the rawest urban comedy clubs, to the most politically savvy mainstream rooms, Tommy uses a combination intelligence and gut-busting comedy that leaves the crowd in stitches. Tommy's resume includes Late Night with Conan O Brien, HBO's The Wire, VEEP, and How To Make It In America, and ABC's The Match Game. He's also the producer of The Tommy Taylor Show; And award winning videos, commercials, and films. Blaire Postman: Blaire Postman is a high energy, down-the-rabbit-hole stand-up comedian with no chill. Her unexpected material includes tales of living with recovering alcoholics and the history of Super Bowl half time shows. She has been an officially selected performer at the San Francisco Sketchfest, Limestone Comedy Festival, Asheville Comedy Festival, and featured for amazing headliners including Arsenio Hall, Erin Foley, Asif Ali among many others. Winston Hodges: Winston Hodges is from a small town called Farmville in rural Virginia. He has spent his time working comedy clubs with his southern charm and edgy wit. You can hear him discussing growing up in a Christian home, race, religion, and working with children who have special needs all while providing a fun and energetic take on all the things we want to say but never do. He performs regularly at the DC Improv. Nathan Luft: Nathan Luft has performed at bars and basements both empty and full across the DMV. If you like any of his jokes feel free to tell them to your friends and pretend they re your own -- but Venmo donations are appreciated. Stand up grad school isn t cheap! He is honored to be performing at Busboys and dreams of the day you see him on the street and say aren t you that one guy from that one thing? Seating is first come first served. Full menu & bar will be available throughout the event.
